Kerry Cohen Presents...
Lush: A Memoir
in conversation with Jillian Lauren
How much wine is too much wine? Loose Girl author Kerry Cohen explores the nature of addiction and recovery through her own midlife love affair with wine. When Kerry reached her early forties, she woke up one day and realized she had a drinking problem.
Yes, she could get up on time, take her kids to school, meet with clients all day, make dinner, and chat with friends, but through it all, Kerry was waiting for her five o’clock glass of wine. Maybe two glasses. Maybe a bottle. Just enough to blur the edges of her monotonous life.
"Cohen's book...offers a sharp-eyed look at what it means to be a midlife female unable to cope with either personal demons or the heavy external social pressures placed on women. "
Kerry Cohen is a psychologist and licensed therapist, specializing in sex and relationships, writing faculty at The Red Earth Low-Residency MFA, and the author of Loose Girl, Girl Trouble: An Illustrated Memoir, Dirty Little Secrets, Seeing Ezra; the young adult novels Easy, The Good Girl, and It’s Not You, It’s Me; Spent, an anthology of 30 astounding essays concerning women and shopping; and The Truth of Memoir.
In conversation with Kerry will be Jillian Lauren, the New York Times bestselling author of the memoirs Everything You Ever Wanted, Some Girls: My Life in a Harem and the novel Pretty. Some Girls has been translated into 18 different languages and is currently being adapted for TV.
