an evening of poetry

performances by  Elizabeth Iannaci, Kim Dower, and June Melby

Three dynamic woman will present new work and favorite selections. Reception and signing to follow.

June Melby is an author and a performer, a former standup comedian, and slam poet. Her memoir My Family and Other Hazards was on the New York Times Bestseller list and won the Midwest Connections Award. Her work has appeared in McSweeney's Internet Tendency, Utne Reader, and the LA Weekly. She teaches creative writing at a number of residencies and conferences and received an MFA in creative writing from the University of Iowa.

Kim (Freilich) Dower, is City Poet Laureate of West Hollywood. Originally from New York City, she received a BFA in Creative Writing from Emerson College, where she also taught. She has published three collections of poetry: Air Kissing on Mars, which was on the Poetry Foundation’s Contemporary Best Sellers list, Slice of Moon, nominated for a Pushcart, and Last Train to the Missing Planet. She teaches Poetry and Dreaming in the B.A. Program of Antioch University.

 Last, but not least, Elizabeth Iannaci is a widely published and anthologized Los Angeles-based poet whose work has appeared in The Saranac Review, Verse Wisconsin, Crab Creek Review, and Italian Americana. She has read at venues in the US, Slovenia, Istanbul, and Paris.  Ms. Iannaci earned her MFA in Poetry from Vermont College of Fine Arts and was a finalist for the New Letters Literary Award.

Hosting it all will be the one and only Brendan Constantine - whose work has appeared in Prairie Schooner, FIELD, Ploughshares, Virginia Quarterly, and Ninth Letter, among other journals. His most recent collection is ‘Dementia, My Darling. He currently teaches poetry at the Windward School and regularly offers classes to hospitals, foster homes, veterans, and the elderly.
